Wounded at Gettysburg

Pvt. William Leach
Company F
1st US Sharpshooters

Leach was badly wounded in Sickles' disastrous move forward
into Pitzer's Woods.  Six months later he received a discharge
due to his disabilities. His story is similar to that of many other
veterans. Some combination of their experiences in the war --
battle wounds, periods of deprivation, disease, and prolonged
stress -- affected their lives long beyond 1865.
